About Co-operatives

The co-operative business model is extremely powerful, yet not well-known or understood.
Oh sure, you are probably a member of a co-op or two, and maybe you shop at one regularly. But do you really understand what makes it tick? And do you really understand how it benefits you, your family, and your neighbours? Do you really understand what's possible for you?

Co-ops have great potential to enhance your community, socially, economically, and maybe even environmentally. Yes, the co-op business is about making profit; however it is also about enhancing the quality of life for its member-owners. The co-op works so well because it is in the community, for the community, and by the community. As world-renown co-op expert Peter Couchman said, "Whatever the issue is in your community, a co-op is the answer."
