Have you ever wanted to own your own home but wouldn’t know where to start? We can help! A free Homeownership Conference is being held on Saturday February 23rd at the West End Commons (St. Matthews Anglican Church). Presented by Spence Neighbourhood Association, Daniel McIntyre/St. Matthews Community Association and West Broadway Community Organization, the Homeownership Conference is designed to give you the tools and information to see if homeownership is for you.
There are many questions to ask and steps to take when considering buying a home. This can seem a bit overwhelming, and yes, there are a lot of steps to take. Perhaps the first and most important question is why do you want to own your home? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both renting and buying? Can you afford to buy? What does a credit union or bank need to know about your finances?
What is a mortgage and what does it cost over the long run?
Once the financial questions are answered, there are a wide range of other steps to go through. What do you look for in a house and what is a house inspection? How do you make an offer to purchase? Are there programs or supports for purchasing a home? A wide range of experts will address these questions and many more at the Homeownership Conference.
Registration:
To attend, please register at (204) 783-4141. The conference is free of charge, but space is limited to the first 100 registrations. Childcare and a light lunch will be provided.
