This workshop is geared towards organizations who work with participants living with mental health or addictions issues.
Discussion will include:
- Working to empower without enabling
- Working in a meaningful and respectful way with participants
- How to help participants move forward
- How to keep lived experience present at all levels of programming
Pat Capponi has carved out a career as an author, journalist, speaker, and social activist. She has written extensively on mental health, addictions and poverty issues, including Upstairs in the Crazy House: The Life of a Psychiatric Survivor and Dispatches from the Poverty Line. She has worked in a variety of settings, which have helped her to develop her skills as a community worker, an educator, a facilitator, an advocate, a writer and a public speaker.
