Momentum is building for the Alberta Regional Food Systems Forum 2017!

Cultivating Connections will energize Alberta’s regional food systems by gathering people from different groups to identify tangible opportunities to collaborate and inspire initiatives for vibrant regional food systems with improved access for all.

Cultivating Connections aims to:

  • Forge new working relationships among diverse food system players
  • Increase effective collaboration for innovations in food production, processing, and distribution
  • Develop systems-based solutions resulting in economically vibrant, ecologically sound, and socially just food systems that increase access to healthy food for all

To entice your “food system” appetites here are a couple of examples of some of the events and 40+ speakers and organizations who will participate

  • Opening and reception at City Hall Feb 3rd in the evening with Mayor Iveson hosting a regional Mayors Panel
  • Taste and Sound of Alberta hosted by Ernest’s and the Culinary group at NAIT on the evening of Feb 4th

The program includes Keynote by Wayne Roberts, Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson, E4C, Diana Bronson of Food Secure Canada, Jasper Place high school student, Multicultural Health Brokers, U of A AB nutrition report card, Organic Box, Ruzicka Sunrise Farm, Riverbend gardens, Red Tail farms, City of Calgary, AB ag and forestry, City Of Edmonton Food Council, Alex Community Food Centre, Localize, Young Agrarians, FLEdGE, Lady Flower Gardens, Edmonton Permaculture Guild, Calgary Office of Sustainability, Calgary Regional Partnership, Recycling Council of AB, Ab Environment & Parks, Land use Secretariat, Hillhurst Community Association, Alberta Co-operative and Community Association and many more!

An author’s hub will be set up throughout the weekend for authors who are interested in selling books related to forum themes.  
In addition, will have tables set up for registered organizations to highlight promotional material. All materials should be relevant to the themes of the forum. Please contact Lmartin1 at ualberta.ca if you are interested in participating as an author or organization!
