WBDC is a non-for-profit organization working to coordinate neighbourhood renewal in
our inner-city community. WBDC works with residents and stakeholders toward
environmentally sustainable, social and economic revitalization of the West Broadway
neighbourhood.
The Property Improvement Program is a small fix-up grant program for homeowners and
rental property owners offered to West Broadway neighbourhood Homeowners and
Rental Property Owners annually from April and November. It aims to encourage
property owners to improve the exterior appearance of property, to retain historical
character of the neighbourhood, to encourage energy efficient renovations and to
improve properties so others will do the same resulting in social, economic and
community stability.
General Description of Duties:
o Support the Housing Development Coordinator to deliver the small grants
program for Homeowners and Rental Property Owners
o Set up intake, maintain telephone inquiry, book appointments, review
applications
o Inform applicants on Program guidelines, provide supports for planning projects
& conduct on-site project inspections
o Maintain files, prepare progress reports
Work Experience Requirements:
o Background in home renovation and project planning
o Experience of housing inspections & knowledge of small contractor industry
o Experience in project estimator, building plans, project management
o Understand City of Winnipeg Bylaws & Provincial Building Code
Qualifications:
o High School Diploma or Industrial Arts Diploma
o Home Builder Tradesperson (certification an asset)
o Computer skills/excel spreadsheet applications an asset
Wage:
Casual work: $150.00 per week for 33 weeks
Hours of Work:
10 hrs per week including days, evening and weekend hours as required
