Chinook Lodge Coordinator - Full Time

The Centre for Academic Learner Services has a challenging leadership position available in the Chinook Lodge Aboriginal Resource Centre.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Dean, Centre for Academic Learner Services, the Chinook Lodge Coordinator:

* serves as the primary link between SAIT program areas, corporate sponsors, Aboriginal students specifically, and the Aboriginal community in general

* provides internal and external coordination and communication towards the long term positioning of Chinook Lodge and its activities to further SAIT's education and training pursuits with its Aboriginal / Metis / Innu partners

* develops and promotes activities which help increase the participation and retention rates of Aboriginal students at SAIT

* enhances awareness of Aboriginal issues in the SAIT community through various publications and liaison activities

* serves on various SAIT/Aboriginal committees and carries out external contact responsibilities to support the Centre

* handles day to day administration of the Chinook Lodge including budget development, tracking and long-term fiscal requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor or Masters (preferred) degree in a relevant area of study.

* Two or more years of experience working with and/or in the Calgary Aboriginal community

* Experience in Aboriginal student services or support in post-secondary environment.

* Excellent communication/presentation skills

* Strong leadership capabilities
