Community Educator/Facilitator/Advocate


The UN Platform for Action Committee (Manitoba) is seeking a Community
Educator/Facilitator/Advocate for our Women's Economic Participation
Mentorship Project. Working with our Project Coordinator this person
will help design and facilitate popular education workshops that will
form a basis of the project which is designed to encourage women's
economic, social and political participation. The person will also be
responsible for logistical arrangements for meetings and workshops,
outreach and developing new relationships, posting web updates,
lobbying, advocacy and communication with UNPAC members and friends.

The successful candidate must:
- be skilled in the use of grassroots education techniques and possess
excellent facilitation skills
- have excellent oral and written communication skills
- have a basic understanding of women's issues in Manitoba and be
willing to learn more
- work respectfully with all persons and create an inclusive environment
conducive to learning
- have experience as an advocate
- think critically and be able to analyze and summarize information
- work collaboratively, as part of a team, with other organizations, and
with a voluntary Advisory Committee
- have basic computer skills such as word processing and internet research
- be creative, flexible, highly motivated and able to work independently
as well as collaboratively
- hold a valid driver's license and be available to travel throughout
the province, including some weekends

As a feminist organization committed to mentoring, UNPAC invites applications from young women and/or women new to feminist advocacy.

The position will be full-time. The contract is a minimum of one year with an extension to two additional years and possibly more. Salary range is $27,000-$32,000.
