WHRC in partnership with the Inner City Neighbourhood Corps and The Housing Training Initiative (HTI) is seeking a highly motivated handyperson with strong communication and scheduling skills and a broad knowledge of inner-city renovation solutions for a term position with the possibility of extension. Responsibilities include:
- Promote and facilitate workshops on home ownership and housing related topics
- Answer housing maintenance inquiries and perform on-site consultations Coordinate training workshops for inner city homeowners on common renovation topics such as plumbing, basement foundations, roofing, fencing, surface finishes, etc.
- Arrange or deliver a weekly presentaion on a chosen topic
- Maintain renovation resource libraries in the inner city
- Conduct on-site diagnostic consultations with inner-city homeowners
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in the repair, maintenance and renovation of older residential dwellings Ability to communicate well with diverse community members
- Ability to work independently, as well as in cooperation with community groups
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Successful candidate must be willing to work flexible hours including evening and weekends.
- A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle is strongly recommended.
Term position to commence as soon as possible.
