Queen Charlotte Islands Women Society, Community Outreach Services Program Coordinator
The Islands Women Society is a not-for-profit organization providing support services to women and children who have been affected by violence. We pride ourselves in our collaborative and supportive working environment. We are seeking applicants to fill the position of Community Outreach Services Program Coordinator in Queen Charlotte City. The successful candidate will :
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with related services to identify and address the service needs of women
- Be largely responsible for networking and spearheading collaborative efforts in the local communities aimed at increasing the safety of women, children, and families
- Develop and deliver culturally-appropriate public education initiatives to raise awareness of the effects of violence against women; of violence prevention; and of services available
- Provide advocacy and support focused on the needs of women who have been affected by abuse
- Assist women through referrals to appropriate services
- Facilitate and/or provide transportation to local services.Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Experience developing and delivering public education on the effects of trauma
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing support to women who have been affected by abuse
- Clear understanding of and commitment to confidentiality
- Strong understanding of professionalism
- Sensitivity to 1st nations issues
- Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously in a feminist organization.
- Valid BC drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
