The City of Campbell River has an exciting career opportunity for a career-oriented, highly organized, self-motivated individual who possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Reporting to the General Manager, Facilities & Supply Chain, the Sustainability Manager will promote, coordinate and assist City departments in integrating sustainability into all aspects of the organizations activities and decision making. The Sustainability Manager will also be responsible for working with the community, other organizations, and all City departments to develop, enhance, and report on sustainability related activities.
The ideal candidate will have completed a Post-secondary degree specializing in Environmental Sciences, Planning, Sustainability or a similar program with at least five (5) years of experience in policy development and program delivery related to climate change and sustainability, preferably in a management role within government. In addition to having a thorough knowledge of the initiatives and programs that seek to reduce green house gas emissions by the use of the best currently available technology, you will also have knowledge of the concepts and issues related to climate change, energy management, recycling, waste reduction, green buildings, integrated sustainability, and their impacts locally and globally.
