The council of the Rural Municipality of De Salaberry is seeking an individual to fill a one year (maternity leave) contract for the position of Economic Development Officer. Contract dates are from December 1, 2008 to December 1, 2009 inclusive. This position is responsible for economic development within the borders of the municipality, including marketing the community, business development and liaison with other communities, regional and provincial organizations and agencies.

Appropriate candidates include those who have obtained a degree or diploma relating to community economic development/business development or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience in community economic development and business development with preference for a minimum of four years related experience.

Applicants should possess proven facilitation skills, consulting skills, excellent bilingual (English and French) communication skills which include verbal and written presentations and well developed public relations and partnering skills and team building skills.

The applicant should have experience and familiarity with rural Manitoba. An understanding of municipal, provincial and federal legislation, regulations, programs and services relating to community economic development and business development, is an asset.

Successful applicants require the ability to travel with a valid driver's license. Relocation to the area is preferred.
