The Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation, an umbrella organization of sixty Saskatchewan not-for-profit organizations active in international development, is seeking a temporary employee to provide communications and technical support to SCIC's youth program and other educational programming from our office in Saskatoon.

Term: December 8 2008 to March 20 2009

Location: SCIC Office, #208, 416 21st St. E, Saskatoon

Remuneration: $12.91/hour

Hours per week: 35 hours/week (flexible hours)

Job Description:

  • Provide technical and communications support to Saskatoon office team including:
  • Maintaining & troubleshooting the youthbeat and worldbeat websites of SCIC;
  • Launching web versions of SCIC educational comics and zines (other publications as necessary);
  • Various computer tasks (networking computers, simple repairs, backing up files, setting up peripherals, making photo cds/cd roms for program participants);
  • Creating specific databases for communications/distribution purposes;
  • Researching IT practices for youth engagement
  • Educating other staff how to use programs and equipment;
  • Take part in Saskatoon community events on behalf of SCIC as requested;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Computer skills and experience in office environment;
  • Interest in and/or Experience creating web sites/multimedia;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Knowledge of/interest in global issues;
  • Writing/Desktop Publication/Graphic design experience an asset;
  • Experience working/volunteering for not-for-profit organization an asset
  • According to requirements of our funding for this position:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be a resident of Saskatchewan and legally entitled to work in the province.
  • Must be either in receipt of Saskatchewan Assistance Plan, Provincial Training Allowance, Saskatchewan Employment Supplement, Transitional Employment Allowance, or have been on Employment Insurance currently or within the last three years, or maternity or parental benefits employment insurance within the last five years.
