The Board of Directors of the Burnside Gorge Community Association (BGCA) seeks an Executive Director to lead a thriving, creative non-profit organization dedicated to community building and to improving the lives of children, youth, and families.
The position of BGCA Executive Director will be of interest to candidates with a leadership style that engages and builds capacity in staff and motivates them towards success. Strong candidates will have a minimum of three years experience in a significant leadership role in a non-profit or service organization and demonstrated entrepreneurial initiative. A Bachelor's degree in community development, non-profit management, public policy or administration, business administration, public health, social work, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. This position requires demonstrated strategic planning experience, initiative, creative problem-solving skills, and comfort dealing with complex and diverse leadership challenges. Candidates require superior facilitation and negotiation abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a record of good relationship building with a wide range of stakeholders. A solid track record in fundraising and financial management is essential. Experience, hands-on knowledge, and a sound understanding of managing a busy, multipurpose public facility would be a strong asset.
The Association operates out of a LEED-designed community centre in the heart of the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood, providing services to individuals, children, and families in the neighbourhood and across Greater Victoria. The management responsibilities of the Executive Director include leadership and oversight of the Association's staff, volunteers, programs, finances, and assets.
