Responsibilities
- Coordinating all aspects of the CCPA Saskatchewan office including development of a work plan and budget; financial record keeping and reporting and administration; recruiting and supervision of commissioned researchers and students and maintaining close communications with Saskatchewan CCPA members and research associates.
- Coordinating Board of Director meetings and preparing written and financial reports for the National CCPA office.
- Acting as the public/media spokesperson for the organization
The successful candidate will also be responsible for the following specific duties:
- Coordinating member outreach and recruitment including writing and publication of a member newsletter, three editions per year.
- Providing National Office information to members and friends of CCPA via e-mail on a regular basis.
- Maintain CCPA Sask. Office computer-based directories and files
- Initiating and coordinating fundraising campaigns
- Initiating and supervising new research projects
- Assigning project work and administrative assistant work of research assistants, interns, practicum students and summer students
- Editing and supervising the publication of Sask Notes and Occasional papers
- Correspondence, event organization, and other projects as they arise.
Qualifications
- Minimum education requirements - Bachelor of Arts degree (preference will be given to individuals with graduate degrees).
- Possess strong research and writing skills
- Have the ability to work independently
- Demonstrate project management skills
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to do media interviews on behalf of the organization.
- The successful candidate must also be able to maintain computer-based files, e-mail directories and manage the development of research documents through multiple versions
- Understand and monitor financial statements
- Past experience in initiating collaborative projects with volunteers and progressive groups is an asset
- Past experience working for a community-based organization is also and asset.
- Past experience acting as a media spokesperson is also an asset.
Terms
- The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week with flexible office hours.
- Position reports to the Saskatchewan CCPA Board of Directors.
- A six month performance review will be undertaken by CCPA Board Committee.
Salary & Benefits
- $3400 per month including dental and health coverage
- This position in-scope with the Canadian Auto Workers Union
