The North End Community Renewal Corporation & Building Urban Industries for Local
Development (BUILD) are hiring a full time Housing Resource Coordinator.

The North End Community Renewal Corporation (NECRC) is non-profit organization committed to the social, economic and cultural renewal of the North End. BUILD operates as a non-profit organization to promote employment and economic development opportunities for inner city and Aboriginal residents in the renovation and construction field.

Position: Housing Resource Coordinator
(half time with NECRC, half time with BUILD)
Salary: $30,000 to $33,000 per annum (plus benefits after probation period)
Hours/days of Work: Fulltime, 37.5 hours per week (evening/weekend work as required)
Term: One year contract
Start Date: As soon as possible

Job Summary:
Under the direction of NECRC's Community Housing Coordinator and the BUILD's Outreach Coordinator, the Housing Resource Coordinator will assist in the following activities:

NECRC
  • Administrate and maintain budget for the Exterior Fix-up Grant program in the three communities of Lord Selkirk Park, Dufferin, and St. Johns;
  • Provide support to local resident groups to develop and implement housing plans;
  • Track, report, and monitor all vacant and derelict properties inventories for three communities;
  • Assist with and provide support to various housing programs by attending meetings, promoting services, and assisting with proposals and reports.
BUILD
  • Promote BUILD programs by actively soliciting residents and landlords;
  • Provide assistance with application process, prepare and submit reports, establish project work schedule, and follow up as necessary;
  • Coordinate activities with other work units or departments.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel
  • Intimate knowledge of the North End a definite asset
  • Experience in inner city community development work
  • Experience in homeownership challenges
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  •  Ability to handle multiple task simultaneously, while giving attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently as well as with other team members who have
  • different backgrounds and experience
  • Mediation and Conflict Resolution skills an asset
