The Hamlet of Gjoa Haven is accepting resumes for the position of Community Economic Development Officer. Under the direction of Hamlet Council through the Economic Development Committee and reporting to the Senior Administrative Officer, the successful candidate is responsible for planning, initiating, directing and coordinating an overall economic development program for the community. In developing and implementing the plan the broad diversified economy including sustainable renewable resource development, retail and service support, small business, tourism and public sector must be incorporated. Through the approved strategic economic plan reflective and consistent with community social, cultural and economic objectives and within the framework of budget limitations and policies, the incumbent is given wide latitude for promoting economic and business development in the community.

Requirements:
  • A recognized degree in Economics, business administration, marketing or related fields
  • Ability to compile business related financial information
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Effective Management and planning skills
  • Ability to motivate and generate idea's from a community level

Salary depends on incumbent's qualifications and work experience and is negotiated with the Hamlet
