The Learning Enrichment Foundation is seeking an individual to work within our Community Development sphere of work as a researcher. Building on our recent Neighbourhood Survey the incumbent will be working closely with the Executive Director, the Director of Neighbourhood Services and all department managers to support LEF in broadening our impacts and developing strategies and funding that directly combat the Poverty of Money, The Poverty of Time and The Poverty of Relationships that are so prevalent in our community.

 

The Researcher position will include the following tasks:

  • Assisting the program manager with funding proposals
  • Conducting local labour market, demographic and policy research
  • Assisting in the development, implementation and modification of internal tools and systems for data collection
  • Conducting informational interviews with LEF staff
  • Writing reports and facilitating informative and participatory workshops
  • Retrieve and compile database information for research projects
  • Direct support to LEF's online presence and the development of a vibrant online community
  • Participate in promoting the Occupational Health & Safety Policy Statement including participation in health & safety education and training
  • Work in compliance with all LEF health & safety policies and procedures
  • Lead the development of key communications products such as LEF's:
    • web site
    • annual report
    • community guide
    • departmental / project flyers
    • staff newsletter
  • Lead and engage staff in better utilizing social networking tools
  • Other duties as assigned
  •  

    Candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Experience writing complex documents
  • Able to multi-task
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office & Social Networking Tools)
  • Database management skills
  • Knowledge of public policy and community economic development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of office procedures and use of office equipment
  • Knowledge of LEF's programs and services is an asset
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment is an asset
  • Able to work as a member of a team
  • Able to relate to different socio-economic and cultural groups
  • Experience writing funding proposals is an asset
