Description:
The Co-operative Development Initiative (CDI) is a partnership between the federal government and the two national co-operative organizations the Canadian Co-operative Association and the Conseil canadien de coopération et de la mutualité to stimulate the development of new and emerging co-operatives as well as innovative co-operative projects across Canada. The new CDI will run for 4 years from 2009 to 2013 and will be co-managed by the two national co-operative organizations.
The Advisory Services component of the CDI involves managing the work of partnership between the two national co-operative organization and the over 20 co-operative organizations at the provincial and sector level to develop new and emerging co-operatives as well as work on national co-operative development priorities.
Term: These are full time term positions, to March 31st 2013.
Responsibilities include:
- Co-ordinate and administer activities relating to CDI's Advisory Services component with another co-development officer (one officer would concentrate on work in English and the other officer in French)
- Report to the CDI Manager
- Develop and maintain relationships with 24 CDI partners including provincial associations and sector federations
- Supervise the partner annual proposals for funding
- Co-ordinate the production and receipt of partner co-operative development strategies
- Help to produce national four year co-operative development strategies
- Develop national co-operative development tools and website with the national co-operative organizations
- Participate in national or regional development projects with the national or provincial organizations
- Draft and co-manage contracts for all Advisory Services partners;
- Implement and refine performance management policies and procedures;
- Provide assistance to the CDI partners in their co-op development projects;
- Develop marketing materials for the promotion of the programme;
- Travel to visit provincial and sector partners as well as some presentation work
- Participate in the initial rounds of selection in contribution based co-operative program
Qualifications include:
- Applicants must hold a university degree in a relevant subject (or acceptable combination of experience equivalent to post secondary education) coupled with 3-5 years relevant experience;
- Experience in project administration, financial management, and reporting;
- Should be able to maintain an effective and collaborative relationship and communication with numerous CDI partners;
- Strong oral and communication skills in both official languages essential with strong written skills in both languages an important asset
- Excellent computer skills
- Knowledge of Canadian co-operative sector and social enterprises is a major asset;
- Experience in project/programme evaluation is an asset.
