The Manitoba Food Charter (MFC) is seeking a community liaison to work with northern communities on the Northern Healthy Foods Initiative.
Reporting to: Executive Director
Location: Based in Northern Manitoba or Winnipeg based with travel to Northern Manitoba
Qualifications

The successful applicant will have/be:

  • Strong skills in community facilitation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with community
  • Be self motivated and a team player
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Able to exercise independent judgment
  • Computer knowledge of word and Excel
  • Have a strong-interest in and knowledge of food security issues within the Northern region
  • Willing to travel
  • Experience in gardening and food preserving is preferred but not essential
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a strong knowledge of aboriginal culture, and experience working with First Nations and Northern Manitoba

 

 

Term: The position is an 8 month term position of a total of 1100 hours or an average of 32 hours per week ending March 31, 2010 with potential for renewal based on available funding. Salary $15-$18/ hr depending on qualifications
