General Description:  This is a position funded by the United Way. The individual will assist the Marlene Street Tenant Advisory Council in the co-ordination and delivery of programs and activities.  The primary focus of the position will be to assist MSTC in strengthening the Advisory Council and re-establishing and expanding consistent basic services for the community. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • extensive knowledge and experience working with a voluntary board of directors
  • excellent organization, communication and time management skills
  • demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team
  • extensive knowledge of community resources in St. Vital
  • training and experience in handling crisis and conflict situations
  • knowledge and experience working with a low income community, especially a public housing complex
  • knowledge and experience working with communities to combat issues of crime and safety
  • a commitment to building strong and healthy families and communities
  • knowledge and understanding of multi-cultural issues and demonstrated skills working cross culturally
  • good working knowledge of computers and extensive experience with a variety of software plus demonstrated administrative skills
  • post-secondary education would be an asset

SALARY & HOURS

The salary range is $15 - $17 an hour for 35 hours/week, depending upon experience and qualifications. Some flexibility and evening & weekend work required.
