Street Culture Kidz Project Inc is a Regina-based charitable organization that works with young people dealing with barriers to employment, education, and social development. Street Culture is an agency that uses the avenue of social entrepreneurialism to employ otherwise often unemployable youth between the ages of 15 and 30. Through these activities, young people are engaged in meaningful work and have the opportunity to become more involved in the community in a healthy and positive way.
We are currently looking for a new intern to work with as part of the Canadian CED Network’s national CreateAction program. Funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, the term placement with Street Culture runs from 1 October, 2010 to mid-March, 2011. This placement will provide a variety of learning opportunities, working with a very diverse spectrum of youth from across Regina. The ideal candidate should:
- Be flexible with time and scheduling;
- Hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence;
- Work well with children and youth of all ages;
- Work well in a team and also independently;
- Be able to travel within Canada;
- Be interested in furthering their career in community economic development and social economy;
- Be comfortable as a self-starter and an independent worker.
The successful candidate must:
- Be a Canadian Citizen, have permanent resident or refugee status;
- Be able to work 37.5 hours each week;
- Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age or under;
- Not currently be in school;
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada and not be receiving EI benefits.
