Manitoba Eco-Network promotes positive environmental action by connecting people and groups in our communities. We educate, we facilitate, we celebrate!
Manitoba Eco-Network is an umbrella for environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGO's) throughout the province. We welcome individual, ENGO and associate members to our organization.
We are a registered charitable organization, and a regional affiliate of the Canadian Environmental Network, based in Ottawa.
Job Description:
Internship Duration: January 10, 2011 to March 18, 2011
Hours: 40 hours per week, some evenings and weekends may be required
Salary: $16.00 per hour plus vacation pay
- work with MEN staff and Member Groups to create educational/promotional environmental videos
- maintain and enhance the MEN YouTube channel
- promote MEN, its projects, and its Member Groups through the use of video, social media, and other means
- explore other ways to incorporate video into the work that MEN does
- research other video resources
- enhance the video section of our library
- assist with MEN's Reel Green Film Festival (Feb. 4-5, 2011)
Qualifications:
- excellent communications skills; comfortable working with people of diverse backgrounds, experiences and opinions
- highly motivated, outgoing and creative
- very good attention to detail
- experience planning and implementing projects; effective at managing time and solving problems
- able to work independently and set goals/priorities
- have a general knowledge of environmental issues in Manitoba
- proficient with computer applications (experience with Adobe Premier Elements is an asset)
- familiar with YouTube, Facebook, and other social media-experience creating/editing videos is an asset
Eligibility:
- Between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive) at the time of placement;
- not receiving Employment Insurance benefit;
- a graduate of a post-secondary education program;
- be unemployed; or underemployed (working 20 hours or less on a regular basis); or working in a job that does not match your area of educational study;
- out of school;
- a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee status has been conferred;
- legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;
- have a social insurance number;
- willing to complete a Police Records Check.
- Note: Youth who have previously participated in the YMCA's Eco Internship program are not eligible.
