Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Policy and Program Analyst is responsible for providing comprehensive coordination, organizational support, research and analytical services to the Social Planning Council in consultation with professional staff, volunteers and partner agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Policy and Program Analyst is expected to:
- Monitor, analyze and evaluate social policies, programs, services and needs;
- Be prepared to interpret government policies and formulate alternatives;
- Provide research training and supervision for SPCW partners;
- Access information, analysis and primary data for SPCW use;
- Contribute to SPCW publications, workshops, consultations and presentations;
- Work with committee members to conceptualize, design and implement action plans;
- Supervise students and interns in placement at SPCW when needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues locally and nationally on joint projects; and
- Perform other planning and research tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
The skills and experience that applicants should bring to the SPCW include:
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent with at least five years work experience;
- Social justice perspective and commitment;
- Comprehensive communication and writing skills;
- Knowledge of and experience in community development;
- Familiarity with Winnipeg community issues;
- Ability to speak both official languages an asset;
- Sensitivity to issues of diversity and inclusion.
