NECRC – PATH Employability Centre:
Is seeking a full-time Job Developer for promoting job search participants to the employer community and liaising with employers to obtain job placements and leads and to identify future job openings. This includes working closely with employment counsellors to ensure the service reflects participants’ needs, abilities and employment goals. As well, the Job Developer will coach, support and monitor clients in the initial stages of employment and maintain relations with employers.
The job developer is expected to keep up with changes in the field, maintain current knowledge of local job market; together with their colleagues, develop and maintain innovative programming that will achieve the highest standards in employment practices and adult education.
Key Skills/Knowledge:
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, as well as presentation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively apply employment counselling knowledge in working with clients
- Ability to assess barriers to employment, write employment plans, and assist clients in problem-solving and attaining goals
- Coordinating and conducting marketing and outreach activities to community agencies, organizations and employers
- Developing relationships with employers in a variety of industries to ensure successful job development for clients
- Making cold calls to employers and locating job openings for clients based on their individual skills and abilities; collecting data from employers related to job orders including job requirements and skills; matching job skills with applicant qualifications
- Working with and coordinating with employment counsellors to identify potential clients for specific job opportunity
- Remaining current on Manitoba labour market trends and the most effective job
- search strategies, techniques and monitoring marketplace trends
- Maintaining and updating employer database and tracking system
- Completing reports and documentation on activities as required
- Demonstrating to employers: effectiveness and profitability of employing disadvantaged individuals by identifying jobs that workers could perform
- Explaining the benefits and employment support services provided by programs to employers, including addressing employer’s special needs; researching newspapers, agencies, and other resources for job leads.
- Assisting employers in establishing wage scales commensurate with prevailing rates.
- Initiating and maintaining ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement.
- Referring qualified applicants to employers and conducting necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions; keeping updated regarding job fairs and Internet resources.
- Monitoring participant performance on the job and counsels participants when job performance is not satisfactory; tracking participant activity and progress data.
- Working with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills or reviews other employment options.
- Setting up business orientations; maintains contact with and assists in researching client’s problems complaints or concerns.
- Efficient in Microsoft Office computer programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook
- Experience and desire to work with persons of diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds
- Ability to be an effective team member
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or diploma from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Services, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum two years experience in providing employment support and services for multi barrier clients and workplace partners.
Valid Drivers License and use of a reliable vehicle required.
