Overview
The JHS of Manitoba will begin operating a 20 men residence for clients of our bail program, about mid-July, 2011. Six (6) additional beds will be available as well to be used at the discretion of JHS. The residence will operate from the second floor of our building at 583 Ellice Avenue.
Staffing in the residence will consist of a residence coordinator (full time), an employment counselor (.5), and a week-end/holiday attendant (.5). In addition a security firm will be contracted to provide support evenings/nights and on holidays.

Residential Coordinator
- Liaise with Bail Project Supervisor about available beds, client conduct and compliance issues.
- Oversee employment counselor/weekend attendant, coordinate with security contractor
- Prepare invoice for board and room for each client/EIA
- Supervise residents during day
- Oversee meals, clean-up and food purchases
- Safeguard and distribute medications of clients (bubble-packs only)
- Help evacuate residents in case of fire
- Maintain order and decorum in residence at all times
Salary: $40,575.00/annum (fulltime) plus benefits. Position covered by collective agreement. Reports to Bail Program Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education, or a combination of education and at least five years related work experience.
- Strong organizational abilities, ability to work without supervision.
- Experience supervising staff, students or volunteers an asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with spread sheets, invoices, accounts payable
- Knowledge of community based social service agencies an asset
- Knowledge of First Nations culture, and ability to speak a First Nations language an asset.
- Must undergo criminal record check
Employment Support Worker (.5)
Provide employment related support and advice primarily to bail program clients residing at JHS – as time allows may support non-resident bail clients.
- Work with the client to develop an employment plan.
- Monitor the individual’s progress in carrying out the plan.
- May supervise residents for a short period during day.
- Liaise with Residence Coordinator in all strategies dealing with employment.
- Liaise with community services for employment opportunities.
- Facilitate groups focusing on employment
- Prepare documentation and statistics for clients.
Salary: 18,570/ per annum (.5) Position covered by the collective agreement. Reports to Residence Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education, or a combination of education and related experience.
- Strong organizational abilities, ability to work without supervision.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Working knowledge of computers.
- Knowledge of community based Social service Agencies.
- Must undergo criminal record check
Evening Attendant (full-time, evenings, Monday to Friday)
- Supervise residents during evening.
- Safeguard and distribute medication (bubble-packs only).
- Respond to minor conflicts and health issues that may emerge.
- Help evacuate residents in case of fire.
- Includes interactions with the residents, helping in problem solving, acting as a positive role model.
- Doing curfew checks by phone
- Minor report writing duties.
- Must be mature and able to work independently.
- Responsible for setting up and distributing evening meals, clean-up etc.
- Must undergo criminal record check
Salary: $15:00/hr plus benefits. (8 hour shift). Position covered by collective agreement. Reports to Residence Coordinator
Qualifications
- Completed some post-secondary education.
- Experience working with adult males in a residential setting.
- Experience working with persons with learning disabilities, mental health disabilities and intellectual disabilities and asset.
- Experience working with culturally diverse groups an asset.
- Ability to supervise others.
Weekend Attendant (casual, two days a week)
- Supervise residents during day.
- Safeguard and distribute medication (bubble-packs only).
- Respond to minor conflicts and health issues that may emerge.
- Help evacuate residents in case of fire.
- Includes interactions with the residents, helping in problem solving, acting as a positive role model.
- Some minor report writing duties.
- Must be mature and able to work independently.
- Responsible for setting up and distributing evening meals, clean-up etc.
- Must undergo criminal record check
Salary: $15:00/hr. (8 hour shift) casual, on call. Report to Residence Coordinator
