About the Position
The Winnipeg Region of the Canadian Mental Health Association is part of a national charitable
organization that promotes the mental health of Canadians and supports the resilience and
recovery of people experiencing mental illness.
The Rehabilitation and Recovery Service of CMHA Winnipeg Region is presently hiring for the position of: Skills Coach (F.T./ 35 hr. wk)
*Term position with opportunity for extension
Duties:
The Skills Coach is the primary staff person responsible for providing practical, life skills related
supports to individual program participants on the job, at home or at school. They are
responsible for implementing support and skills teaching plans developed by the Rehabilitation
Worker with the participant, in the actual setting where the needed skill(s) are to be applied.
Education/experience required:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalency (minimum). Preference will be given to individuals with a Degree/Certificate or course work in a related area such as Social Work, Education,
Disability Support or Psychology. - 1 year of related work experience (minimum). This position may be of interest to people who have worked as Proctors or Teacher’s Aides.
Skills required:
- Professional helping and skills teaching
- Verbal and written communication
- Time management
- Non-violent crisis intervention
