About the Position
Manitoba Eco-Network, a registered charity that serves as an umbrella for environmental organizations in Manitoba and provides a number of educational and outreach projects, is seeking an Executive Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this full-time position demands an energetic, committed leader with strong environmental knowledge and proven communications and management skills.
Job duties are as follows:
Oversee and manage all aspects of day-to-day operations of Manitoba Eco-Network, including:
- Human resources management including supervision, evaluation, and mentoring where necessary;
- Strategic planning: leading and working with the Board on strategic planning for the organization;
- Project development, responsibility for implementation, evaluation and reporting, where appropriate, in conjunction with various Project Managers;
- Fundraising
- Represent the organization to the public;
- Government, external and media liaison;
- Liaison with Canadian Environmental Network and other national organizations;
- Respond to information requests from member groups and the public
Liaison with Board of Directors:
- Ensure Board and organizational policies are carried out,
- Manage budget and finances in consultation with Treasurer, liaison with Auditor and with funding bodies.
- Organize Board meetings and General Meetings as appropriate.
From time to time: undertake specific project activities (eg. Workshop delivery, presentations).
Qualifications Required:
- Post-secondary degree in Environmental Studies or related discipline, with extensive environmental experience;
- Excellent oral and written communications skills;
- Strong knowledge of ecological principles;
- Strong awareness of current environmental issues;
- Experience in project management;
- Experience in financial and budget management;
- Experience with human resources management;
- Experience with event planning and coordination;
- Strong interpersonal skills and team player
- Knowledge of the charitable and non-profit sector would be an asset;
- Experience with fundraising and the ability to communicate in French would also be assets.
