Contract Description

Approximately 32hrs/wk over 4 months with possibility of extension. Contract value: $16,000 based on satisfactory completion of responsibilities. Report to the Chair of the Neighbourhoods Alive! Committee in Chalmers (NACC).

Responsibilities

• Act as a resource to the NACC, attending monthly meetings and providing technical support;
• Maintain ongoing communication between Neighbourhoods Alive! and the NACC;
• Conduct community meetings;
• Conduct outreach to neighbourhood groups including resident associations, parent councils and community centre boards;
• Support the NACC in identifying a proposed structure for the ongoing coordination of
  revitalization efforts;
• Participate in local networking opportunities;
• Engage community residents, businesses and organizations in identifying revitalization priorities;
• Prepare the Neighbourhoods Alive! NDA funding application.

Qualifications

• Education or related experience in the area of community development. Post-secondary education preferred.
• Strong collaboration and networking skills.
• Skills in conflict resolution and/or mediation.
• Experience planning and facilitating community meetings.
• Experience working on or with volunteer boards and in organizational planning.
• Ability to work with groups and engage community residents and community organizations in the planning and execution of projects.
• Ability to work independently and to meet time sensitive deadlines
• Strong interest in community development through community engagement.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Satisfactory criminal record check*
