About the Position

Spence Neighbourhood Association is looking for a highly motivated individual, to manage the front desk and office for our 615 Ellice Avenue site, as well as work with our Skills Bank and ID program.

This is a 30-32 hour a week position. Wage will be determined according to relevant experience (between $13-$14/hour)

The 615 Ellice office is a busy place with community members coming in to access a variety of resources from the different programs offered by SNA. The chosen candidate will be the first contact with community members, so the ability to be resourceful and supportive is a major asset.

Duties include:

Skills Bank

  • Receive and record requests for odd jobs
  • Book and coordinate jobs for workers
  • Issue cash requests for payment
  • Assist with workers’ pay days
  • Maintain Skills Bank data base
    • enter and update new workers
    • enter the evaluation of the worker for each job

ID Program

  • Verify clients’ address
  • Enter client information into data base
  • Assign cheque pick up date
  • Provide document application for clients
  • Assist with cheque pick up

Front Desk/ Office Manager

  • Answer phones-direct calls through to proper channels and answer questions
  • Assist community members with resources
  • Morning set up of office and shut down in the evening
  • Upkeep and update of employment and training board
  • Supervise and coordinate office cleaning/maintenance at 615 Ellice
  • Order office supplies for 615 Ellice

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Supportive and encouraging with community members
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve in fast paced environment
  • Experienced and comfortable with office software
  • Knowledge of Spence neighbourhood and resources in community

Assets

  • Previous experience working with people that have employment barriers
  • Knowledge of CED principles
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access
  • Resident of Spence Neighbourhood
  • People person
