Description of Program

1st Steps to Employment is a new program that will offer training and support to assist participants in becoming more employable. This position is part of a team so many of the activities listed below will be done as a team.

Personal and Interpersonal Skills

Organizational and Administrative Skills

  • Knowledgeable of community services, agencies and resources
  • Ability to gather and disseminate information
  • Ability to set up and implement screening processes
  • Ability to develop necessary administrative tools such as forms for tracking attendance
  • Computer literacy skills

Connecting and Supportive Skills

  • Ability to encourage and build capacity and independence in the trainees and volunteers
  • Ability to engage and oversee trainees and volunteers

Training Skills

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to develop curriculum following adult learning methods
  • Ability to create processes to track trainee’s progress
  • Ability to develop and administer learning and social related assessment tools
  • Experience in successfully working with adults with multiple learning barriers

Education Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education with training in adult education or equivalent work experience

Remuneration: Twenty (20) hours per week/$20-$22 per hour commensurate upon experience. Dependent on funding, hours may increase during the term of the contract.
