Career Trek’s vision is straightforward: help build a Manitoba where everybody can realize their full career or educational potential.

We are a not-for-profit organization that helps young people – who would most benefit from our programming – to discover postsecondary education. We offer kids hands-on experience in different careers, which gets them excited about one day going to university, college or taking part in an apprenticeship. It also helps them figure out what professions they would enjoy - and which ones they might not. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Communications is responsible for promoting and raising awareness of Career Trek as an organization.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Develop policies and reports including, but not limited to a communications plan, annual reports, outreach strategies and more.
  • Promote and raise awareness of the organization and its brands, as well as the specific programs/projects and new initiatives to our partners, parents, general public, and more.
  • Oversee the marketing and promotional aspect of the organization and produce materials which includes, but not limited to brochures, posters, videos, website
  • Maintain the consistency and quality of communications materials including, but not limited to the monthly e-newsletter and other materials.
  • Maintain and monitor the website.
  • Maintain and monitor social media outlets including, but not limited to Facebook and Twitter.
  • Develop items for Directors and Managers where necessary, including but not limited to yearbooks, graduation items, etc. with intention of making these self-sustaining where applicable.
  • Assist other Directors and Managers where necessary and applicable.
  • Manage program budget; track expenses, report variances between actual and budgeted expenses, follow-up on
    outstanding purchase orders, etc.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diplomas in communications
  • Proficiency and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Self-starter and motivated
  • Critical thinker
