About the Position:
Food Matters Manitoba is seeking an Office Assistant, 15 hours per week for the month of May, and 37.5 hours from June onwards $12 - $ 14/hr based on qualifications. The Office Assistant will assist the Executive Director and Accountant with the daily administrative activities of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the executive director, the successful applicant will work with the Accountant, project staff and board volunteers to:
- Act as front line staff for email, phones and general organizational questions
- Handle routine office procedures such as phone calls, filing, photocopying, mailings and word processing
- Coordinate logistics (catering, materials and supplies, etc...) for special events and meetings (Golden Carrot Awards, Growing Local, annual AGM)
- Maintain contact lists and organizational records
- Monitor and maintain inventory and office supplies
- Support Executive Director in administrative tasks
- Act as point person for office and staff support (tech-issues, project expenses, general questions and coordination/follow-up of staff meetings)
- Assist Accountant with organizational finances (preparing invoices, expenses, reports, deposits, and other funding or office requirements as required)
- Assist and attend board meetings, take meeting minutes, support ED in board communications
- Assist with other projects and tasks when required
About You:
- Highly organized with proven attention to detail
- Self motivated and a team player
- Able to multitask effectively and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- High problem solving ability
- High level of computer and internet knowledge especially Word, Excel, and Access
- Able to work flexible hours
- Able to exercise independent judgment but work well as part of a team
- Technical trouble shooting ability is considered an asset
- Previous administrative experience and an understanding of the role is a requirement Experience with financials and record keeping is an asset
- An interest in food security and community development is a benefit
