About the position:
The Policy and Program Analyst will be responsible for providing comprehensive coordination, research, analytical and writing services to the Social Planning Council in consultation with professional staff, volunteers and partner agencies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Policy and Program Analyst is expected to:
- Monitor, analyze and evaluate social policies, programs, services and needs;
- Interpret and critique government policies and formulate alternatives;
- Access information, analysis and primary data for SPCW use;
- Develop documents, workshops and presentations, both individually and collaboratively
- Work with committee members to design and implement action plans and campaigns;
- Supervise students in placement at SPCW;
- Collaborate with colleagues, locally and nationally, on joint projects; and
- Perform other planning, research and writing as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
The skills and experience that applicants should bring to the SPCW include:
- Advanced degree in economics, public administration, sociology or equivalent ;
- At least five years work experience;
- Social justice perspective and commitment
- Comprehensive communication and writing skills;
- Knowledge of and experience in community development;
- Familiarity with Winnipeg community issues;
- Ability to speak both official languages an asset;
- Sensitivity to issues of diversity and inclusion.
