About the Position:

Effective: June15, 2012 – March 31, 2013
Hours of work: Variable, as required (day, evening, weekends – flexible)

Reporting to the Thompson Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation (TNRC) Executive Director on behalf of the Aboriginal Art Centre Board of Directors, the Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the development of the Aboriginal Art Centre programming.

Duties

  • Program development based on the interim business plan and/or direction from the Board of Directors
  • Responsible for coordinating course/workshops
  • Ordering required equipment and materials
  • Marketing the program and advertising the courses, including the use of Facebook and other social media
  • Undertaking budget monitoring
  • Working with the Board of the Aboriginal Art Centre for Northern Manitoba
  • Liaising with the Aboriginal artist community
  • Attendance at all workshops and board meeting is required
  • Apply for funding to support program development and sustainability

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, coordination and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Literate in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experienced in proposal writing/fundraising
  • Interest in Aboriginal Art
  • Fluency in Cree/Dene will be an asset
  • Experience with Photoshop will be an asset

Working Conditions:

  • Travel in and outside the community of Thompson is required
  • Access to office equipment (printer, fax, etc) will be provided by the TNRC
  • Project Coordinator must provide own laptop, software and cell phone
