About WCWRC:

The West Central Women’s Resource Centre (WCWRC) provides services and programming to women and families in the West Central neighbourhood of Winnipeg. WCWRC is seeking a HOMES Program Coordinator to coordinate the delivery of WCWRC’s HOMES program. The HOMES Program increases housing and income security of women and families in our community. This is done though one-to-one mentorship, skill building, networking, partnerships and advocacy. 

Terms of Employment:

Start Date: July 10, 2012
$21- 24.00/hr
35 hrs/week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively partner, network and advocate for increased housing and income security
  • Support and supervise program staff and volunteers through coaching, conflict resolution, crisis management and goal setting
  • Provide overall coordination, promotion and evaluation of HOMES Program
  • Facilitate community trainings and works related to housing and income security and empowerment
  • Assist with fundraising through report and proposal writing and special event support

Qualifications:

  • Accessible to and supportive of community women
  • Minimum 2 years experience supervising and supporting other staff
  • Knowledge and work experience in the areas of EIA and housing advocacy and policy related to poverty/equity
  • Active participation and skills in networks, coalitions and partnerships
  • A strong ability and experience in facilitation and/or adult learning
  • Comfortable working in fast paced environment
  • Strong conflict management skills with the ability to provide informal mediation, support and mentorship
  • Strong computer and professional writing skills; ability to prepare proposals and reports
  • Awareness and sensitivity to issues of marginalization (sexism, racism, classism) and cultural diversity
  • A strong understanding of the West Central community
  • Willingness to work within WCWRC Philosophy, including empowerment and harm reduction
