The Aboriginal Health & Wellness Centre of Winnipeg, Inc. is accepting applications from qualied persons of Aboriginal descent for the following position: Community Health Worker

Position Summary:

The Community Health Worker is responsible for providing both clinical support, by means of direct and indirect care to constituent accessing medical and clinical services, as well community development and outreach through the design, delivery and communication of health promotion, prevention and awareness activities within the Aboriginal community.

Qualifications:

• Medical Office Assistant, Healthcare Aide certificate or a combination of education and related experience deemed equivalent by the Centre.
• Demonstrated experience working within a medical office/clinic environment, with primary emphasis on effective direct patient interfacing and accurate record keeping, excellent communication skills including demonstrated ability to facilitate presentations to groups.
• Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently within a fast-paced, high stress environment.
• The ability to speak an Aboriginal language is an asset.
• Must have valid Manitoba Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.
