Local Food Plus has an opening for a part time Manitoba Program Coordinator at its Winnipeg office. The contract is for 20 weeks, beginning in July 2012.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner Recruitment and Relations (approximately 80%)
- Survey potential restaurant, retail, and institutional partners by introducing the issues and demonstrating how these businesses can benefit from a commitment to Certified Local Sustainable food and assess potential for a future relationship with LFP.
- Maintain and deepen relationships with active partners and certified producers, introducing them to new elements of the program, and ensuring that their needs are met, identifying new opportunities for certified farmers/processors, and maintaining the integrity of the LFP program in each setting.
- Assist partners in making optimal use of LFP signage, logos and promotional material.
- Connect/refer partners to new sources of Certified Local Sustainable food.
- Record all relationship developments in LFP’s CRM tool.
- Troubleshoot supply chain challenges, in conjunction with other LFP team members.
- Outreach, Communications, Consumer Engagement (approximately 20%)
- Contribute to newsletters, blogs, online communities (Facebook, Twitter, etc), websites, etc.
- Assist in planning and organizing events that promote Certified Local Sustainable food to consumers, partners, farmers/processors, and other stakeholders.
- Organize and staff LFP booths at consumer and trade events.
- Perform other relevant duties as required.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong commitment to growing local sustainable food systems according to LFP principles.
- Interest and/or involvement in local sustainable food issues.
- Excellent skills in networking and relationship building.
- In-depth understanding of food supply chain systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills.
- Experience with online communities like Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, and similar.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle
- Willingness to undertake occasional weekend/evening work and periodic overnight travel.
- Experience or education in any or all of the following: communications, agriculture, local sustainable food, food/environmental issues, will be considered.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
HOURS, COMPENSATION
This contract position is part time (20 hours a week) for 4 months at a rate of $25/hour.
