Job Scope:

We are a not-for-profit organization that helps young people to discover post-secondary education. Career Trek’s vision is straightforward: Help build a Manitoba where everybody can realize their full career and education potential.
The 'M' Project is a career exploration program specifically tailored for young mothers. Participants get to try 60 careers in 13 fields two nights a week between October and April, helping them to clarify their education and career goals.
Reporting to the Director of Programming, the 'M' Project Manager is responsible for the day to day development, implementation, and operation of the 'M' Project and works with all staff members to ensure appropriate infrastructure is in place to effectively administer the project.
Qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma in relevant field.
- Experience working with young people, especially young mothers.
- Experience managing projects and staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and excellent presentation skills.
- Strong counseling skills/experience.
- Valid drivers license.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of the Aboriginal community, career and/or curriculum development is considered an asset.
- Criminal and child abuse background checks required
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with project partners, the Curriculum Developer, and the instructors to develop curriculum.
- Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with schools, post-secondary institutions, and their respective units.
- Provide on-site supervision on project nights at campuses.
- Develop project policy manuals and handbooks.
- Ensure bus schedules and all pertinent information are distributed to the schools in a timely fashion.
- Coordinate and facilitate school orientations and distribute orientation packages.
- Manage project budget, track expenses, report variances between actual and budgeted expenses, follow-up on outstanding purchase orders, etc.
- Ensure the continual safety of participants and staff by following Career Trek’s risk management guidelines.
- Keep accurate track of participant attendance.
- Work with the Fund Development Coordinator and Communications Coordinator on the organization’s fund raising and communications efforts.
- Verify all forms submitted by schools and participants.
- Ensure bus schedules and all pertinent information are distributed to the schools in a timely fashion.
- Provide on-site supervision on project nights at campuses.
- Coordinate any related special events (graduation).
- Additional duties as required.
