Leveraging strong partnerships with internal/external stakeholders including operations staff, community agencies, government departments, health authorities and tenant groups, you will plan, develop, manage and evaluate locally driven community development initiatives.
By seeking out partnerships with other agencies and finding ways to maximize resources, you will promote the economic, physical and social well-being of our subsidized tenants throughout BC. Ultimately, your aim will be to assist tenants in achieving independence and self-sufficiency and to ensure our programs foster healthy, active and inclusive communities.
It will also be your responsibility to coordinate the ongoing delivery and redesign of the Tenant Activity Grant (TAG) Program, the Tenant Education Program (TEP), the Family Self-sufficiency Program (FSSP) and other new initiatives. You'll also support the work of the tenant members of the Public Housing Advisory Council.
Your degree in community development, adult education or social science is combined with certification in conflict resolution and least 4 years' experience planning and administration in initiating and managing community development and volunteer programs serving vulnerable clients. You are a skilled public mediator, confident public speaker and analytical problem solver. You're also at ease working with budgets and clearly communicating complex program and funding requirements.
You have immersed yourself in current social issues around housing management and have built a strong knowledge base in affordable housing policies, programs and planning practices as well as community development, homelessness domestic violence, child protection, aging and mental illness and drug addiction.
This position requires some travel, as well as periodic evening and weekend work.
