Community Engagement Coordinator

The Corporation of the Town of Huntsville is located two hours north of Toronto in beautiful Muskoka cottage country. Huntsville, with a population approaching 20,000, is the largest community in the District of Muskoka and is a vibrant and dynamic community in which to live, work, and play.
Providing support to the Executive Director of Community Services and Economic Development (and recognizing the unlimited potential of this vibrant community and the importance of achieving strategic goals and objectives) the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for playing a key role in the coordinated approach to community engagement. This approach aims to create a positive relationship between the Town and the community based upon the objectives contained in our Community Master Plan. The Community Engagement Coordinator will:
o Identify and foster community and economic opportunities in events tourism research and business development
o Secure funding for economic development activities and programs
o Assist local organizations, businesses, and individuals with establishing community engagement and economic development plans and projects
o Promote the community in order to expand opportunities
Ideally, the successful candidate would possess a Degree or Certification in Economic Development, Marketing, Communications or Business Administration with three to five years of related experience. Along with possessing excellent communication, written, public speaking, and presentation skills the candidate will also have sound and extensive understanding of social, economic and political dimensions relating to community engagement. You will enjoy working in a positive team environment based upon a leadership model that promotes respect, empowerment and accountability. Proven skills in needs assessment, research, analysis, and communications are an asset.
The Town of Huntsville offers an attractive benefits package and a competitive salary range. The 2012 salary range for this position is currently $54,255 to $60,283. Anticipated start date is January 2013.
