The West Central Women’s Resource Centre (WCWRC) provides services and programming to women and families in the West Central neighbourhood of Winnipeg. WCWRC is currently seeking an Executive Director to administer, manage and coordinate the affairs of WCWRC using a women’s centred approach that encourages honest communication, equality, inclusion and respect. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will ensure that all of the activities of the WCWRC are carried out within WCWRC’s vision, mission and philosophy.
 
Start Date: December 2012 Full time, Salary Commensurate with Experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership in articulating WCWRC mission and philosophy both internally and externally.
  • Provide sound financial management to all of the centre’s fiscal responsibilities.
  • Ensure that there is adequate fund development to enable the centre to continue to carry out its work.
  • Provide effective leadership and guidance to staff and volunteers that encourages and supports centre development and capacity building. • In collaboration with the Personnel Committee and the Program Director, manage Human Resources responsibilities for the centre, including recruitment, hiring, and supervision of staff.
  • Develop and maintain community networks and partnerships.
  • Report to the Board of Directors regularly on the activities of the centre.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in a relevant field (i.e. Social Sciences, Business and Administration, etc.). A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 years management experience, including administration, financial and human resources management.
  • Strong background in financial management, including budgeting, reporting and financial accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and identifying diverse funding sources, grant and proposal writing.
  • Work experience in a non-profit environment and a strong understanding of the non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues relating to marginalization and the role that social determinants of health have on the general health and well-being of women (i.e. domestic violence, addictions, sex trade, housing).
  • A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to successfully advocating for diversity and the values of diversity as it relates to ethnicity, identity, orientation, class, ability, age, etc.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and a strong understanding of this relationship.
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining appropriate boundaries with staff and community members.
  • Ability to help others set goals and create plans to facilitate the accomplishment of goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Strong conflict management skills with the ability to provide informal mediation, support and mentorship.
  • Strong computer and professional writing skills; ability to prepare proposals and reports.

 

Assets

Experience working with various financial software applications. Experience working within a feminist environment. A strong understanding of the West Central community. Additional languages, especially those represented in the West Central community.
