ASSISTANT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
The City of Selkirk is seeking an individual for the position of Assistant Economic Development Officer.
Under the general direction of the Director of Community Services and Transit the Assistant Economic Development Officer shall be responsible for assisting with new business establishments, employment and development to Selkirk in order to meet the City's strategic goals for a prosperous and vibrant community.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma/Certificate in Economic Development, Urban Planning, Business Administration, CMMA (Certificate in Manitoba Municipal Administration), Commerce, Marketing, or a related field.
- 4 years' progressive experience in a supervisory position, preferable in a municipal setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking experience.
- Project management and budgeting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of Federal, Provincial, Municipal and Planning Laws, Codes, Acts and Regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of the principles and practices of economic development policy, administration and implementation.
- Ability to analyze and assess the economic development programs, policies development agreements and operational needs to make appropriate adjustments.
- Ability to use excellent judgement in respecting confidentiality.
- Ability to identify and respond to sensitive community and organizational issues.
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, databases, internet based research, MapInfo and Autocad.
- Valid Manitoba Drivers Licence.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
- Travel required for the position.

Salary range is $61,500 to $75,400 that will be determined by qualifications and experience, plus the City offers a benefits package.
