Title: Business Case Counselor (Korean), Business Immigrant Integration Support (BIIS) - Vancouver
Nature: Full Time (35 hours/week)
The objectives of Business Immigrant Integration Support Program include helping business immigrants understand business culture and best practice in BC context, accelerating integration process for business immigrants, providing specialized settlement and economic integration service for business immigrant families relocating to out-of-Lower Mainland BC communities, developing community economic partnership with remote BC communities, and developing a foundation of curricula, resources and tool kits to support business immigrants.
The Business Case Counselor will deliver services through case management, business mentoring, group orientation/workshops, accompaniments, service bridging/linking. The Business Case Counselors will provide services to business immigrants face-to-face or through online communications.
Reports to: Senior Manager, BIIS
Duties:
• Provide targeted Business and Settlement Integration Support to Immigrants who choose to start business in BC
• Provide 1) Case Management activities; 2) Business Start-Up Mentoring; 3) Group Orientation; 4) Business training/Workshop; 4) Accompaniment; Service Bridging/Linking to eligible immigrants
• Expand the presence of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in ethno-business community
• Promote Business Immigrant Integration Support Project among ethno-business communities
• Make aware of the business and settlement opportunities outside of Lower Mainland
• Must be capable to meet deliverables as set out at beginning of contract
• Handle language-specific business start-up inquiries
• Deliver business training programs and seminars/workshops
• Research on products and industries as assigned
• Assist with the web content development and maintenance
• Assist with the implementation of project activities/events
• Translate written materials from English into respective language or vice versa
• Perform public interpretation duties as needed
• Share office administration work
• Keep office records and compile statistics
• Attend external and agency meetings
• Report and proposal writing
• Other tasks as assigned by manager
Qualifications:
Education, Training & Experience
• Relevant post secondary education in business studies or equivalent
• Demonstrated business start-up knowledge in BC context
• Demonstrated working knowledge of BC systems and community resources
• Demonstrated established business and settlement ties with Chinese, Korean or South Asian communities in Vancouver
• Demonstrated working knowledge of mainstream business community
• Demonstrated working knowledge of communities outside of BC Lower Mainland e.g. Northern BC
• Demonstrated bilateral trade knowledge (China, Korea or India) an asset
• Demonstrated case management experience
Job Skills & Abilities
• Fluent English plus a Korean language
• Demonstrated excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Excellent in computer skills, specifically MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and on-line searching, charts, diagrams
• Public speaking and interpretation/translation experience an asset
• Event organizing and teaching experience an asset
• Self-starter, action and result-oriented
• Multitask & flexible

• Prepare to work at different locations
Duration: December 2012 to March 31, 2014 (subject to funding availability)
Salary: $22.15 – 26.45 per hour
