Wages: As presented in the employment contract
Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm 

General Desciption:

Working primarily with the Communications Manager, the intern will primarily provide support for the development of various print and electronic communications, as well as assist with the promotion of events and conferences as required. There will also be some outreach work to our membership as part of this placement.

Key Responsibility:

  • Assist with the planning and creation of various print and electronic communication pieces such as newsletters, reports, guides, corporate and event brochures, fact sheets, meeting materials, etc.;
  • Identify opportunities and develop content for media releases related to the key strategic areas;
  • Work with all Managers to edit, update and create new website content for their program areas;
  • Provide content for blog and other social media tools (such as Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube);
  • Update and organize main database and e-Directory as required;
  • Support Event Manager in the promotion of Annual General Members meeting, roundtable meetings and regional conferences across the province;
  • Work with the Membership Manager to enhance relationships with current members and to develop strategies to attract new members.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the work of On Co-op and the goals of the communications strategic vision.

Staff Team:

  • Support and promote a strong staff team culture, and participate in all staff meetings, events and conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for internship program (i.e.: 30 years of age or under; recent college/university graduate; out of school; hasn’t had an EI claim or received it for the past 3 years, legally entitled to work in Canada);
  • Graduate of university/college communications and/or marketing program preferred;
  • Knowledge of and experience with various communications media (print, electronic, website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) a huge asset;
  • Strong research, writing, editing and grammar skills;
  • Comfortable using various MS Office Tools (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher);
  • Ability to work independently but also within a team environment;
  • Individual should be creative, have a good eye for detail and the ability to take initiative; 8. Good time management skills and someone who is deadline-oriented.
