Reintegration Worker

The John Howard Society of Manitoba (JHSM) is seeking a a .8 caseworker position, on a term basis, until September 2013, in our reintegration department, beginning at the end January/early February, 2013. The successful candidate would provide re-integration services to JHSM clients who are currently in the Winnipeg Remand Centre or Headingly Correctional Centre. This includes a full range of referrals and direct services. As well, the position involves group facilitation in the areas of Anger Management, Parenting and Pre-employment preparation. Groups are held both in the community and inside Correctional Centres and/or Federal Institutions.
 
Successful candidate should have a valid driver’s license and must be able to pass a reliability screening by Manitoba Corrections and Correctional Service of Canada.
 
The position is covered under the collective agreement between JHS of Manitoba and the CUPE.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in the Social Services, justice or related field, or three year’s work experience in a related field.
  • Experience in facilitation
  • Knowledge of social and economic programs, community and social agencies and other resources available in the Winnipeg area.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
