The West Central Women’s Resource Centre (WCWRC) provides services and programming to women and families in the West Central neighbourhood of Winnipeg. WCWRC is seeking a Red Road to Healing Program Coordinator to assist in the delivery of WCWRC’s Red Road to Healing Domestic Violence program. Our work is done using an empowerment and harm reduction philosophy. 

Start Date: March 1, 2013 or earlier
Term24 hrs/week
Wage: 
$19.00 - $21.00/hr commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall coordination and financial management of Red Road to Healing program.
  • Preparing reports and proposals.
  • Co-facilitate Red Road to Healing group.
  • Provide training to external agency staff to replicate or adapt Red Road group.
  • Organize and hold monthly workshops and events on issues related to safety, growth, and traditional Indigenous teachings.
  • Conduct program evaluations.
  • Provide on-going informal support and referral to community women using the Centre.

Qualifications:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in counselling, facilitation, or similar skills.  A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of family violence.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous practices and protocol.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to colonization, marginalization, and cultural diversity.
  • Accessible to and supportive of community women. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong budget management and record-keeping skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Assets:

  • Experience writing funding proposals and reports.
  • Understanding of and comfort discussing traditional Indigenous teachings.
  • Strong understanding of the West Central community.The West Central Women’s Resource Centre is committed to representing diversity amongst our staff.
