The Co-operative Enterprise Council of New Brunswick is a provincial association that promotes the co-op business model as a meaningful way of creating jobs and building healthy, sustainable communities.  Our membership consists of both small and large co-ops who operate in sectors ranging from financial services to housing, local food, energy, construction, culture, fisheries, and the list goes on and on. CECNB provides a variety of services and undertakes activities aimed at supporting the development of new co-operatives and the growth and expansion of existing co-ops.

CECNB is looking for a dynamic, skilled post-secondary graduate between the ages of 21 – 30 for a six-month CreateAction Work Experience Program Intern position that will begin April 21, 2013.  The Intern will assist with the development and implementation of marketing strategies for new and emerging co-operatives and will help member co-ops develop effective financial management and member engagement strategies.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with French being an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to function independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of staff, volunteers and participant
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills

Technical Competencies:

  • Educational and professional background in marketing
  • Background in financial management
  • Proficiency with graphic design and the development of promotional materials
  • Proficiency with various accounting software packages
  • Knowledge of the co-operative sector would be an asset

CreateAction Interns must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 inclusively at the time of selection
  • Be a post-secondary college or university graduate
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a protected person within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be legally entitled to work in New Brunswick
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial and/or territorial legislation and regulations
  • Be out-of-school
  • Not be receiving Employment Insurance benefits
  • Can demonstrate a lack of labour market attachment to field of study (under-employed or unemployed)
  • Can demonstrate that working in the field of community economic development is a career goal
  • Has not previously participated in a Career Focus work experience placement
