EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Term position, term indefinite and subject to two weeks notice, not part of the collective agreement
SALARY: 28 Hours per week, $21 per hour
PURPOSE OF THE POSTION: In keeping with the mission statement and values and principles of the John Howard Society of Manitoba, Inc. (JHS), the Acting Assistant Executive Director will directly assist with the effective management of staff, students, departments and special projects.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: The Acting Assistant Executive Director reports directly to the Acting Executive Director and will be part of the management staff.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly Assist the Acting Executive Director:
- maintain and promote the mission statement, values and principles of JHS
- provide assistance with special projects as identified by the Acting Executive Director
- research grant opportunities, generate ideas and identify possible partnerships, and develop draft funding proposals
- assist the Acting Executive Director in communication with institutional staff, clients, and other agencies that provide services to shared clients
- review workplace policies, and update them as appropriate
- participate in community outreach and networking on behalf of agency
Administration:
- write, manage and maintain special project budgets and reports
- keep statistics on activities for the Acting Executive Director and the Society as a whole
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Creative thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to pass an enhanced reliability screening with Manitoba Corrections
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with the workings of the not-for-profit sector preferably, but not exclusively, in a supervisory role
- Experience in proposal/program development
- Experience in working in or with a unionized organization an asset
- Experience with developing and maintaining website and social media presence an asset
- Experience working with criminalized men and the Aboriginal community an asset
NB: The existence of a criminal record is not a barrier to employment on its own.
