This position has overall responsibility and coordination for the developments and activities within the Economic and Community Development Secretariat involving business development, tourism, oil and gas, agriculture, housing, etc. Duties shall include, but are not limited to the following: responsibility for the overall implementation of policy decisions of the Commission; take the lead role in the development and implementation of First Nations economic and community development initiatives; assist in the development of First Nations legislation in economic and community development; responsible for reporting, as required, to all levels of First Nations government; develop proposals and concepts to meet the gap in economic and community development/services on behalf of the First Nations Governments in Saskatchewan including assisting in the creation of special Task Forces to address specific issues, supervision of staff and consultants.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of eight (8) years at a senior management level required, degree in related field, a combination of education and experience will be considered; knowledge of First Nations government and non- First Nation governments developments and programs in economic and community development, broad knowledge in areas of First Nations development generally, experience working with industrial and corporate businesses, strong interpersonal and communication skills, negotiation skills, must be able to travel, leadership skills, be committed to long-term development of First Nations, have knowledge about, and understanding of First Nations cultures, histories and structures.
