  • MCIC’s mission as a coordinating structure is to promote public awareness of international issues, to foster member interaction, and to administer funds for international development.
Job Profile:
Reporting directly to the Executive Director and receiving input and mentorship from MCIC’s public engagement staff, the Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivery of events, public engagement activities and workshops for youth and schools. This is a full time term position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Youth Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the following areas:
Event Organization and Management
  • Assist in appropriate follow up with participants, partners, members and funders
  • Provide reports to the Executive Director, CIDA and other funders about youth engagement events and activities
  • Plan, organize and execute events for youth and schools which includes six Generating Momentum Conference a year for middle years students
Community and Public Relations
  • Develop workshops and information sessions to meet responsive programming requests
  • Provides youth related content for MCIC resources such as newsletters, posters, website etc
  • Assists in communicating with MCIC members and community partners to gain support for youth programs
  • Develop and nurture relationships with schools and their constituencies
Accountabilities:
The Youth Engagement Coordinator is accountable for:
  • Representing MCIC in a positive manner through professional conduct
  • Upholding the mission statement and values of MCIC
  • Treating fellow employees with respect and dignity, understanding their jobs and their importance to MCIC, and cooperating in achieving their goals
  • Ensuring details are handled accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Functioning as a supportive team player
  • Bringing energy and commitment to the work
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Certificate in special event coordination an asset
  • Combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • University degree in a related subjct such as education or international development
